Sarah Hexem, Esq. is responsible for directing NNCC’s federal and state policy initiatives and developing policy and advocacy projects in collaboration with NNCC leadership and key relationships with organizational and academic partners. In 2015, Sarah became the Director of the Pennsylvania Action Coalition, which works to implement the Institute of Medicine’s 2010 Future of Nursing Report through strategic partnerships in an effort to create a healthier Pennsylvania through high-quality, accessible, and safe nursing. She also co-directs NNCC’s Nurse-led MLP Initiative, a national pilot program focused on integrating legal services into the nurse-managed health setting and manages several public health law research projects in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Public Health Management Corporation.
Sarah joined the NNCC in 2012. Her prior work experience includes direct legal and social services related to women’s health and court reform policy research. Sarah graduated magna cum laude from Temple University Beasley School of Law and has a Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College.
