NNCC explores opportunities for partnerships with external researchers who share its mission to advance the work of Nurse Managed Health Clinics (NMHCs) and the role of Nurse Practitioners as healthcare leaders and primary care providers. Projects include evaluations of Medical Legal Partnerships supported by NNCC and our bi-annual, national survey of Managed Care Organization credentialing of Nurse Practitioners.
NNCC administers the HRSA-funded Keys to Quality Health Center Controlled Network (HCCN), a coalition of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) across seven states dedicated to improving their health information technology and quality improvement capacities. This diverse coalition of 13 FQHCs (including seven NMHCs) receives technical assistance services and support from NNCC to help optimize their electronic health records (EHRs), to benefit from the federal EHR incentive payment program, and to achieve patient-centered medical home certification.
NNCC has identified several tools and best practices related to health IT implementation, adoption, and optimization and is happy to share this information with NNCC members.
Keystone Community Health Alliance–NNCC continues to manage a broader network devoted to health IT optimization and data sharing for quality improvement and practice transformation. The Keystone Community Health Alliance (formerly Data Mart Network) is a collection of nurse-managed health centers from several states and organizations providing strategic support and oversight for NNCC’s health IT, data sharing and research opportunities.
The mission of the Alliance is to build the capacity of nurse-managed primary care health centers to collect clinical data, thereby facilitating clinical research aimed at adopting best practices, ensuring quality patient care, and disseminating research findings. The research network is considered a PBRN (practice-based research network), registered with the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ).
The Alliance has been supported by the Independence Blue Cross Foundation as well as the Independence Foundation. The Alliance oversees all health information technology projects of NNCC, including the Keys to Quality HCCN described above.
